The Victor Hanuse Sport Grant

In honour of Victor Hanuse: January 16, 2001 – April 22, 2021

In early 2021, our community was devastated by the sudden and tragic loss of Victor Hanuse, a beloved individual who had a profound impact on our lives.

Victor’s radiant spirit illuminated our community, and his passion for soccer and boxing was truly remarkable. Victor’s commitment to his physical well-being was matched only by his fervent advocacy for the welfare of youth in government care. He consistently spoke highly of his family and community, embodying the values of loyalty and community support.

In honor of Victor’s memory, we have established the Victor Hanuse Sport Fund, a testament to his indomitable spirit and his belief that everyone should have access to sports and fitness opportunities.

The primary objective of this fund is to provide financial assistance to individuals both within and outside of government care who may face barriers in pursuing their athletic aspirations. We firmly believe that sports can be a transformative force in a person’s life, fostering physical well-being, mental resilience, and a sense of belonging. By removing financial obstacles, the Victor Hanuse Sport Fund aims to ensure that no one is denied the chance to participate in sports due to financial limitations.

Through the Victor Hanuse Sport Fund, we aspire to create a lasting legacy that aligns with Victor’s values and aspirations. We envision a future where deserving individuals, regardless of their circumstances, can access the resources and opportunities they need to thrive in their chosen sport. By investing in the dreams and potential of these individuals, we aim to nurture a generation of empowered athletes who will not only excel in their athletic pursuits but also serve as beacons of inspiration to others facing adversity.

Your contributions make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who benefit from this fund. Together, we can honor Victor’s memory and ensure that his legacy of compassion, determination, and inclusivity endures for generations to come.

In summary, the Victor Hanuse Sport Fund stands as a testament to the remarkable life and character of Victor Hanuse. It serves as a beacon of hope, enabling individuals in or out of government care to pursue their sporting aspirations without financial obstacles. Through this fund, we aim to uphold Victor’s unwavering belief in the power of sports to transform lives, fostering a community that embraces and supports individuals of all backgrounds and circumstances.

Let us come together and make a lasting impact in memory of a truly exceptional individual, Victor Hanuse.

Bring team 700 to your community

Team 700 isn’t just about boxing; it’s about fostering personal growth, providing a safe haven, and empowering Indigenous youth. By embracing Team 700, you can be a part of the movement to create positive change.

Team 700 offers a range of dynamic programs designed to support the holistic development of Indigenous youth. Our comprehensive curriculum includes boxing classes, fitness workshops, and specialized training sessions, all tailored to meet the unique needs of each community. Through these initiatives, we aim to instill discipline, self-confidence, and a sense of belonging, while also nurturing physical fitness, spiritual and mental well-being.

In addition to boxing training, Team 700 facilitates various workshops and activities that focus on essential life skills. These workshops cover topics such as leadership development, goal setting, mental health awareness, and culture.

Positive role modelling is a fundamental aspect of Team 700’s approach, as our athletes themselves serve as powerful examples and mentors to their peers. By highlighting the leadership and facilitation skills of our youth athletes, we create a unique environment where positive role modelling takes centre stage.

Team 700 athletes are not just participants; they are leaders within the program. They play an active role in leading and facilitating various sessions and workshops, sharing their own experiences, knowledge, and skills with their fellow teammates and community members. Through this peer-to-peer engagement, they serve as relatable and inspirational figures, demonstrating the transformative power of resilience, determination, and perseverance.

“Joining boxing and team 700 has helped me to focus my energy and stay disciplined, which has been a positive influence on my life. By dedicating myself to the sport, I’ve been able to change my passion into something productive, rather than turning to negative behaviors like alcohol and skipping school. Through boxing, I’ve learned prioritize my health and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue to grow and improve.”

By showcasing the potential and accomplishments of our youth athletes, Team 700 instills a sense of pride and motivation in other Indigenous youth. Witnessing their peers excel in both the boxing ring and in life encourages other young individuals to strive for greatness and overcome challenges. The athletes of Team 700 demonstrate that no obstacle is insurmountable and that with dedication and support, they too can achieve their dreams.

Moreover, the positive role modeling exhibited by Team 700 athletes extends beyond the program itself. As they become ambassadors of resilience and success, they influence their communities and inspire others to embrace their culture, pursue their passions, and strive for personal growth. Their stories of triumph serve as a testament to the resilience and strength inherent in Indigenous youth.

Bringing Team 700 to your community means not only providing access to boxing training and workshops but also creating a platform for Indigenous youth to become positive role models and leaders. By showcasing the potential within each individual and fostering an environment of support and encouragement, Team 700 empowers youth to believe in themselves and become agents of positive change.

Together, let’s celebrate the achievements of our youth athletes, who, through their dedication and commitment, serve as beacons of inspiration for their peers and community. Join us in embracing the power of positive role modeling and support Team 700 as they lead the way in empowering Indigenous youth to overcome obstacles, pursue their dreams, and make a lasting impact.
